The Richmonds

June 25, 2006

I said I’d have a new storyline to tell you about, and I’ve also made my first family to go with it!

However, I’ll start with a little info about the neighbourhood first.

It’s called Violet River and isn’t based on anywhere particular. The actual neighbourhood plan I used was Sedona (I think) and it’s supposed to be set in about 1895. A lot of the characters are British and many have come to restart their lives, forget about their pasts, or to fall in love. As regards to the whole ‘love’ thing, I’m generally wa-a-a-ay to embarrassed to go into any detail whatsoever. Once or twice though, I might just have to - so please BE WARNED, you might read a whole lot of cheesey stuff. emoticon

As a Brit myself, I’m also really patriotic and anybody who isn’t British may have trouble understanding some of my slang language. If you do, tell me and I’ll quite happily translate. And I’ll try not to go on too much about the History of Britain; it drives everyone I know up the wall. emoticon

Soooo…onto the First Family!

Please Meet The Richmonds!

Victoria Richmond moved to Violet River after the death of her husband, Alfred Albert Richmond, in mysterious circumstances. Selling her four houses in London, Portsmouth, Truro and Kings Lynn provided her with enough money for a new mansion on the tropical Georgian Isle. Since Violet River was the most respectable village to have sprung up on the Isle, as well as the only one with any good building resources, she chose a good home. It was called Country Gothic and the kind people at Mt Geneva left it well-equipped and perfect for starting her life. Bringing with her her daughter Alice immediately, followed a little later by her son Alfred Morgan (he had to complete his last term at Harrow), she is now trying to position herself at the front of society. She is also looking for a new husband. emoticon

Not long after her life resumed itself and she began to get used to Violet River, Victoria heard of Votes For Women (in its early stages, of course). She also heard of the Parish Council at the local Church, St Marmaduke’s. Deciding to help the Votes for Women cause, Victoria also realised that she would get more of an audience if she joined the Parish Council. To promote herself at the first Council Members Election, she had herself and her children pose for the local Photographer.

Mrs Victoria Richmond.

Miss Alice Richmond.

Master Morgan Richmond.

To cap it all, and escape her ex-husband’s influence, she changed her son’s name from Alfred to his middle name of Morgan. And so their new life finally began.

Hello Again!

June 24, 2006

After some hectic computer struggles, sister struggles and exam result struggles, I finally fixed my Sims. Inspired by several different stories from several different time periods, I have decided to maybe try my hand at something new. Since I love History and anything with historical importance is valuable to me, I have been downloading this, that and everything in between I can find.

Also, as a reward for doing so well in various exams (A* in History, woot!), I may - I MAY - by getting a new graphics card! Woohoo! Bye bye, so long and suckers to my present one which was new…in 2001! Geez! So I’m presently plotting a storyline for a Victorian-y story. The Summer Holidays are starting in about a month, so then I’ll have loads of time to play and post.

BTW, I will play on the other families you all ready know. I know that hardly any storyline had been explained and I went from family to family to new family, and it must have been tiring. But playing with my neighbourhood over and over again got like a chore, and I ended up hating whatever I did. I will update them soon, but for now I’m enjoying writing this new story and the exam-aftermath-euphoria. So give me time and I will get back.

Lastly, you can check out any of the links to other Sims 2 sites I have put up. It was their hard work that inspired me to start this blog, and their stories are just excellent. If you want me to put up a link to your Sims 2 blog, leave it in a post and I’ll try to get round to it.

Thanks!

Long Time No Sim

June 2, 2006

Hello devoted readers! emoticon

Well, after a long half-term holiday of waiting for my darned computer to be fixed, my prayers were answered. Yes, my PC was playing up. After the exams. While I was on my hols. And nobody in the house could fix it for fear of completely trashing all the content - including my Sims 2 and all my assignments. Plus some random stuff. Luckily my dad’s friend came over and he fixed it. Unluckily, Pleasantview, Strangetown and Veronaville were completely bugged.

But…I rarely played them so none of the families: ie the Doters, Remus and Basalt, and the lovely Lufts ever lived there. They’re all safe and snug in a custom neighbourhood.

However, please give me a bit of time to update them. I did back-up the game; but the Doters, who I played with great relish after this, now have to teach little Dolly and Eddy everything because they are toddlers again. Doh! I’m really sorry, plus all my pictures got mucked-up. I’m an idiot, all right. I’m sorry!

However, give me time to reboot the machine and get everything going again, and I’ll see to it that everything goes smoothly. I shall play and post one of my families sometime next week if I can.

Thank you for hearing my woes! emoticon
