The Little Luft Family
May 14, 2006Hey y’all, this is just another short entry in my little blog. Thank you to all those who have made comments, I’m really pleased you like my stories. And now I’m going to introduce another little family…
The Lufts were a happy, average family of four - there was Mr Luft, Mrs Luft, Ms Luft and Master Luft. Unfortunately, the Lufts were not the kind of family that consists of a father, mother, son and daughter.
The man of the house was the 66-year-old Jim. He was a mild-mannered old man from far-off California, with wiry grey hair that was starting to go white. He had lived his young life as a mechanic and he knew Dexter Doter because his father had owned the garage where the old cowboy had worked as second-in-command. It was Jim’s own older sister Cindy who had married Dexter and this made Thomas Doter his nephew. Jim, the typical well-trained and mild-manner mechanic, had been given the post of ‘Head of Sales and Shares’ at his brother-in-law’s new business, the infamous ‘Doter’s Motors’. This was how he had met his future wife, Mei-Lin Lung.
Mei-Lin’s family were wealthy Hong-Kong businessmen. Her father, Chang, was a cold-hearted petroleum-dealer who divorced his first wife (Mei-Lin’s mother) to marry a promising heiress. Brought-up in SimCity, Mei-Lin was a vivacious and firey beauty, two years younger than Jim, whose first job was selling tickets at the theatre. She went to La Fiesta Tech, graduated with honours, and went into business to provide for her sick mother. Then she met Jim. After a whirlwind romance, they ended-up married. (I do love a happy ending)
It was a strong bond, to say the least:

…And the happy couple had recently celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary.
The union was blessed with the birth of a bouncing baby daughter, who soon grew into a brooding teenager, who in turn blossomed into a beautiful young lady. They named her Marcia-Mei, highlighting both her American and Chinese blood.

Sadly, her post-graduate years were ruined by the birth of her own child. She had been engaged to a wealthy New-Yorker with great blue-green eyes, but he died in a moter-cycling accident and left his fiancee pregnant. She bore a baby boy aged just twenty-one. He had his father’s fine big eyes; but his feathery silvery hair was passed on from his Chinese ancestory. Marcia-Mei named her son Buck-Wan - the Buck after his father, and the Wan for her Chinese routes. It wasn’t long before his eighth birthday came around.

He was a quiet, bookish boy who loved to read huge dictionaries. He did not inherit his mother’s and grandmother’s knack for maths and science, which was a pity, but his English skills far surpassed a college-graduates and he learned Chinese as well as English. It was a pity, too, he thought, that he never knew his father.
Little did he know, his mother had met someone new…
(And you won’t find out who until next time, so there
!)

Interesting family. It’s nice that they’re related to the Doters. It would be cool to have a big neighbourhood where all the people are related or at least good friends… Are you planning to make more families? Or is this like the Prosperity challenge?
Anyway, it’s a very promising story. Can’t wait for more. :3
