Eeeeeep!

May 28, 2007

Hellooo, out there! :D

Yes, I know what you’re thinking…what the heck? I thought this weird person died/grew out off the Sims 2/abandoned us long ago. Well. I’m truly sorry about that. Geez, I never forgot about this site exactly. But I’ve had some external exams this year and I’ve revised for them since about February. But they’re all gone - finished - buh-bye! Huzzah! As a reward my parents bought me a Nintendo DS Lite, and I got Animal Crossing not long after that - so I haven’t really played much because of my, ahem, "extensive" revision and then my being consumed with joy at my new DS.

I’ve read and reread all the comments new readers have posted since then (thank you!), I’ve downloaded like a madman - though actually I’m neither mad (honest; just eccentric!) nor a man - and I’ve begged my ma and pa for one month of subscription to TSR. I have seen the recent debates about Pay Sites; and though I would never ever ask people to pay for my stuff (if I ever made anything good enough to share, that is) there are various pay-only items from TSR that I coveted. But I am trying to use free stuff…most of the time. :D I have also been reading many other blogs, and they’re all fabulous. You can bet that if you posted a comment with a Sims 2 Blog address within, then I have read through your blog.

But this site is over a year old. 0.o Odd, huh? And it’s basic and cumbersome. A while ago I think I talked about getting a nice new one, and this is something I shall seriously consider. My pictures, which I now take with (free!) Fraps, are much bigger than they used to be and the layout gets all pooped up every time I post one. But we shall see. I have a lovely week of holiday stretching out ahead of me. Oh - the possibilities!

Have a lovely week - you can rap my knuckles and take away all cookie-privileges for a month if I don’t write back before Saturday. (No, I am not officiated with Millie’s but man, they’re lip-smackingly good.)

See you, and thanks ever so much for your patience,

amalinaball.

ps: Check out Parsimonious’ 4-yr anniversary give-away. NOW! It’s all free: GET IT ALL HERE!

Huzzah!

January 26, 2007

Hi again. Yep, I know I said I’d post some more piccies of the Lindons but I am lazy and I have a short attention span. I also lost them in a weird accident soon after…bah, humbug…oh well. The twins were gorgeous, just so you know. I posted them on The Sims 2 Community, look under amalinaball and you’ll find them.

I was also delighted to find I had a few new ideas. Stuff I was never bothered about before. I went on a bit of a downloading spree. Again. And now I have decided to devote a bit of time to building priddy houses over the weekend. I have always been interested in architecture, it’s true, so why not? :D

Anywho, here are some pictures I took throughout the week. I like them. Peggy Sims skins are uber-great for realistic faces.

Thanks, and I am sorry for making you wait a bit. I may post some pictures of a house I am working on over the weekend.

Till then…ciao! :D

Just a Little Update, Tonight!

January 2, 2007

Hello! I know I posted just yesterday, but I have enjoyed a rather pleasant day (I have only one more before returning to school on Thursday!) and three children were born to a young couple of mine.

First, there were two: Lister and Margot Lindon. Their names are peculiar - Margot came from my wanting to call her Margaret, but my (evil) sister’s middle name is Margaret so I morphed it a little; Lister is an old English name, and was a common family name for the Holtes of Aston Hall. It reminds me of the word ‘Blister’ for obvious reasons. :D

After a few energetic Woohoo sessions (where much fun was had by all), poor Margot found herself bowing before the great God of the Bathroom. Yep, she was pregnant. As a Pleasure Sim, I don’t think she was having a very pleasurable time. So, I endeavoured to make things a bit better by cheating my way through the whole pregnancy.

(I was annoyed because I had wanted to get them a dog, but 1 dog + 1 baby = wa-a-a-a-ay too much work for someone as lazy as me. But my annoyance turned to delight when I laid my peepers on their beautiful bouncing bundle of joy!)

Meet little Cressida Roola Linton! Isn’t she a darling!? I was over the moon when I saw how cute she was…her dad, although not bad looking, was designed to be a sort of punkish druggie lead-singer. And her mom is not 1/2 as pretty as her younger sister Lily (she was the female sim in my last post). But Cressie is an angel!

Curious to see if Cressie’s good genes were merely good luck, I got Lister and Margot to concieve yet again. I cheated again, getting Lister to teach Cressida all her basic life-skills, and after three days Margot gave birth…to a girl…and a boy…TWINS!

I named them Geoffrey and Philippa. This is a photo of Philippa, though they both look exactly the same. Oy.

So my game is booming! I’ve added a few more Cressie pictures to indulge myself. Knowing my luck, the twins will be ugly as heck.

Yeah, I thought the last one was funny. But then I’m sad, lol.

Happy New Year!

January 1, 2007

Hi Everyone! I hope you had the best possible Christmas, and of course a wonderful New Year!

And…at last! My prayers were answered on Christmas Day! My dad insisted I try out the Festive Holiday Stuff Funpack (how could I refuse?), so we installed it and turned the game on. Guess what? My graphics were about 100x better. Yep, while I’d been away at my grandma’s house, he’d installed it for me, ready for Christmas Day. I didn’t fit in much playing (Christmas Day itself is family time), but for the past week I’ve just been enjoying building big lots with proper furnishings, without any blurry graphics or stumpy hands. It’s so wonderful…you can’t appreciate a good graphics card without having had two stinking ones before it. (BTW, it is a Nvidia 7600).

Now, for some sad news. My sister, wishing to check the card out after dad installed it (she was too sick to go to grandma’s house), clicked something in my folders. What that something was, I have no idea. But everything went. My downloads. My sims. All the data. So I wouldn’t find out (makes no sense, this next part) she cleaned out my recycle bin. Then found the back-ups of my neighbourhoods and destroyed them. That little…idiot! I had to reinstall everything from scratch, which was terrible. So no more of Canaan’s Solace. No more Luft Family, or Victorian Stories, or anything in the past. They’re gone. :(

But I have found loads of new downloads, and built new Sims. I am also thinking about changing to another site, but if I do I will post to say so. This one just can’t handle the size of pictures I am now able to get with my graphics card, so I figure bon voyage. I am fond of this site, but it reminds me of my dear old Sims and I am more than a little hurt by what Lucie did. It will remain up, but I don’t know about any updates.

Anyway, here are three pictures (which make the layout go all freaky, but oh well) of my new Sims. I am already contemplating a storyline for them. Perhaps they will help me get over my embarrassment of romantic writing!

Thank you! Happy New Year!

The Boys

October 17, 2006

Hi! My sincere apologies for not having updated. But starting back to school and the ever-added pressure of homework and lessons and keeping up with all the gossip I missed over the Summer and facing severely embarrassing issues to do with a whole manner of other things…well, it can do that to you. emoticon I’m still trying to keep my links straight, so if they don’t work please bear with me.

Before I finish typing-up into neat the Prologue, how would you - yes, you! - like to meet the ‘The Boys’?

I have recently edited some snapshots of them ‘in action’ so to speak, and I am dying to share them.

<!–more–>

First off: John G. Godwinn. He’s a nice, average kind of Sim. Maybe you’ll recognise him from "elsewhere" on this site? emoticon

And one of his compadres (sp?) - Vyvian O. Oakley. Extra points to whoever guesses who I named him for, and what his middle name is.

Finally, the baby. I made him with the role of ‘extra’ in mind, but he grew on me like a fungus. He is actually a really cool guy…in a Simmish sort of way.

Just A Little Help Needed…

September 3, 2006

Now Shana was good enough to offer me some sound advice about creating page numbers within a post, and for that I am very grateful. emoticon

However, being somebody who lacks any technical flair at all and finds just plugging in a battery-charger very challenging, the code she kindly gave me does not appear to be working: aka, probably my fault but then it usually is. I have tried many variations on that code but - typically - none of them work. Doh!

emoticonemoticonemoticon

The whole thing is delaying the Prologue, and nothing seems to be working. However, all though it did not work on my test site, it MAY work here. So excuse me whilst I try it…

<!–nextpage–>

Hmmm…if it hasn’t worked, you can see my problem. If it has…well, I AM like some kind of idiot with computers and you can just ignore this whole thing.

Thanks for your co-operation. ;)

EDIT: Hm, well Jen has given me a link to the Blogsome Forum, and I will now test the data within this post.

Okay, there was once a…fat’n'friendly chicken nugget called…err…Chuckles. emoticon Because he was so kind, crispy, and generally yummy, everybody loved him. One day he went for a walk along the kitchen counter. Who knew what adventures lay in store for the brave and daring Chuckles?

{link_pages next_or_number=’number’}

Well…the answer to that was nothing other than being gobbled down by some filthy greedy toddler with smotherings of ketchup (or catsup? hmm…) and lashings of vinegar.

Poor Chuckles! Well, I hope it’s worked?

EDIT 2: Okay, I’m going to follow Mandy’s Advice now. (Please bear with me in this constant testing!)

<!–-nextpage–->

Hmm…

Bonjour!

August 29, 2006

I’m back from France!

We left off really early last Saturday - at 3am! emoticon That turned out to be an unwise precaution, because we got to Poole at 8am but guess what? The ferry didn’t leave for St Malo till 2.30pm! Oy. I was grim anyway, and if I happened to post frowns on your blogs when I talked about it, that was because I am NOT a morning kind of girl. So sorry. :)

Anyway, we had a fun week. The place where we stayed - near Dinan in Brittany - had a particularly wonderful trampoline. Woohoo! My calfs were aching fit to drop off by Friday. ;)  But we did everything we could think of in that week: visited Mont St Michel, went to a market at Dinan, visited seven churches and cathedrals, saw the bones of a Saint, ate loads of fries, had a BBQ, lost 20 Euros but found 50 on the floor, ate too much cheese, drank too much cheap wine (it really was horrid!), and I was even brave enough to sample that gourmet dish of snails. They were absolutely disgusting - but I ate mine (and my sister’s too) in a bet and my dear dad gave me 100 Euros.

May I also add that I learnt no French whatsoever apart from "Where is the Toilet, my good sir/madam?" And that I have now forgotten. emoticon

Anywho, about the Sims…while on holiday, I thought of a new story. And I liked it. A lot. So much so, in fact, that I decided to start writing it straight away! I spent five days scribbling down the basics and when I got home I typed it all up. Then I sat down and simmed for an age. So…I have the prologue neatly typed and I’m going through it. All I have to do next is Photoshop the pictures and that’s that. But…I don’t know how to create page numbers! Yes, I am the biggest dolt-head alive on this earth! But seriously, I really need to know how. The prologue would be wa-a-a-ay too long if I put it all in one post with no seperation. So I’m wondering: could somebody kind please tell me how to create page-numbers on a single post? I would be incredibly grateful.

Thank you for commenting, too, it always cheers me up!

Have a nice week and I’ll see about the Prologue in a few days time.

Absence

August 18, 2006

Hey guys.

Just to say that I will be in France for a week, so no new posts or comments. I hope to update a little before my new computer arrives (mid-September, confound it! emoticon!).

Have a nice week!

The Twins

August 12, 2006

Hi again!

Thank you to Shana, Jen, and Kara for their comments on my little Gamble. Because he was so flattered by the lovely comments, he decided to do a bit more posing for you all with his twin sister Jynx in tow. emoticon

So first we have…

Gamble chewing his fingers! emoticon I can’t stand the cuteness when he does that!

Here is Jynx (at last!) being all good-natured and smiling. emoticon

Jynx and Gamble squabbling over a bottle of…green…snot? Eww…anyway, Gamble started it - but who’d know with that puppy-dog expression? emoticon

This is the closest I could get them to making-up. I still like this picture. :)

As you can see, the house needs a bit of decorating. I was only expecting one baby, and they would be crammed in as it was. Oh well.

And one more photo, one that I adore. It’s basically the same as the previous, only I changed the camera angle. I took it so I could use it as decoration in their mother’s room, but had to show a close-up first.

Thank you and ta-ta!

Hi!

August 7, 2006

Hi guys. It’s good to be back. I’m weak at the knees, jippy in the tum, coo-coo in the head (as always) and just plain happy to be back. emoticonYep, this little guy is just like me at the moment.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been getting rid of some old data to make the swap to my new computer as easy as possible. Since my dad hasn’t been at work over the holiday, I still haven’t got the machine yet, though I should have by the end of summer, if not by my birthday in September. Exciting, eh? I can’t wait for Pets and Glamour Life, they ought to look excellent on my new computer.

To calm myself down, I started a new neighbourhood with a few new families. This isn’t a family update exactly, but I really wanted to show you my newest toddler. He was born in-game and I think he’s cute as a button. His twin sister (yep, just like the Doters!) is quite sweet too, but I didn’t have any good pictures of her, except when she was a baby. I’ll see about posting some soon.

So, without further ado, please meet little Gamble:

Aren’t I cute? C’mon, I’m cute aren’t I?

And good-natured too. I like loading my special toy train.

Need I say more?

And need I say more?

See you again,

Faithfully amalinaball.
